I was in the parking lot of a Smart & Final today and witnessed an individual putting his groceries in the back of his car. He suddenly looked around the parking lot, apparently having previously spotted a homeless man and took from the recently loaded back of his vehicle a loaf of bread and a package of sandwich meat, walked to an empty shopping cart and placed both food items in the basket. He then pushed the cart to where the homeless man was, who was wearing an obviously, old, worn face mask and I heard him say, "Excuse me, sir!" and gave him the cart with the food. He then walked back to his car and seemed to realize he forgot something at which time he opened the back of his car and took out a large jug of juice and took that to the man he previously gave the bread and sandwich meat to. I then overheard him say to the man, "I'm sorry, I should have realized you can't eat a sandwich without something to drink! I'm sorry it is not cold."

As the man walked back to his car I noticed his face and he was teary eyed. I wanted to ask him... but ultimately did not.

This seemed to me to be a single act of kindness. One that appeared to have evoked thoughts of perhaps wondering why in the richest country in the world there must be so many people like this homeless man.

Our own brand of plutocracy here in the U.S. is what prevents us as a society from moving forward and truly becoming a Judaeo-Christia n society. The plutocrats have learned to foment hate through lies and suspicion in order to maintain their grip of control over the masses. We are sanctioning the oligarchs in Russia, we should be doing the same thing here with our own oligarchs and plutocrats!!!!
