The Party Today Frank Rich of the NY Times writes, "The Republicans at least have an excuse for pushing this poison. They are desperate. The trio of Pillsbury doughboys now leading the party — Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Cheney — have variously cemented the G.O.P.’s brand as a whites-only men’s club by revoking Colin Powell’s membership and But is it true? Unless you have an issue with pshycotic rationalization it sure is true. How can you deny the facts, well you can make excuses but to deny any of this is utter rationalization. Mitch McConnell refuses to rebuke the statements with regards to the judicial nominee, Sotomayor being referred to as a "racist". How about four words, "it is not right". I think this gives us a very clear picture of Mr. McConnell's character. What Do Republican's Stand For?The not too distant and still ongoing race for Minnesota Senate seat between Coleman and Franken is what I would consider a blemish on the record of Gov. Pawlenty. Many Republican's see it as a badge of honor, to have stood in the way of a democratic election where the opposition is ahead, to stubbornly refuse to act in good faith and the present rule of law, refusing to acknowledge a winner by not signing the papers to allow the current winner to be seated. The Republican's seem to - and are getting away with preventing a legal election from concluding a winner. The State Supreme Court has ruled, period. Sure appeal it to a higher court but to prevent the outcome of the election based on, what, nothing of fact or substance at this point. If the courts deem that at some point in the future that the election was not legal then appropriate actions should be taken. To hell with the people of Minnesota, close as the race is screw the people of Minnesota and their right to have representation! Another example of character in both Pawlenty and Coleman, but they are carrying water for the Republican party aren't they? This is what old Republican's are dismayed with, what they refer to as the hijacking of their party by religious zealots and radical party extremists. No? Taking a stance is admirable, but confusing that with a rationalization based on justifying the means to an end - winning and getting one's agenda instituted is sick - at least it has been in America up until now. The Republican strategy of "when you say black, I'll say white. When you say up I'll automatically say down" doesn't seem to work. But that doesn't matter to them, they will forge forward with this neuroses. They must have what they want no matter what or how compromised their values. Isn't that in part a definition of a fanatic? To not want to protect and raise up their values they would prefer to compromise them to achieve their agenda. Curious isn't it? |

smearing the first Latina Supreme Court nominee as a “reverse racist.” Republicans in Congress have no plausible economic, health care or energy policies to counter Obama’s. The only card left to play is 9/11."

There are plenty of people that make excuses for these disgusting people and makes America an even scarier place! God help us when just plain stupid people like Sara Palin are held in high esteem as pilars of government!
Unregulated industries work
Religion is the answer to corruption and gov. imorality
Small government is best (corporate control of public issues will work!)
Fed. government shouldn't tell us what to do (unless it is not to have abortions or determinining DNR issues)
Public healthcare falls under one of the above and is socialistic or commie!
Foriegn policy and diplomacy - just beat them down or utterly destroy them.
